Privacy Policy
Effective November 6, 2026
- RallyRead does not collect, upload, sell or share any personal data. We never see your videos or your players.
- Everything you add to the app, including videos, player profiles and results, is stored only on your device.
- There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- Data leaves the app only if you choose to share an export file yourself.
This policy explains how the RallyRead iPhone and iPad app ("RallyRead", "the app", "we") handles information. It applies to the app and to this website.
1. Information we collect
None. RallyRead has no servers and does not send information about you, your players or your videos to us or to anyone else. The app contains no third-party software development kits for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.
2. Information stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following in its own private storage on your device. We cannot access it.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Player profiles: a name or nickname you type, an age group (Junior under 13, Teen 13 to 17, or Adult 18 and over), handedness and skill level | To tailor targets and coaching tips. The app asks only for an age group, never a date of birth or exact age. |
| Videos you record in the app or pick from Photos | To analyze strokes and replay them with the tracking overlay. |
| Analysis results: body-position and racket-head points from each frame, measurements, scores and tips | To show results and history, draw the replay overlays, and re-score old sessions. |
| Progress records: each stroke's baseline and later evaluations, drill plans, and the days you logged a drill | To show what improved, which drills to practice, and your practice history. |
| A setting that remembers you finished the welcome tour | So the tour doesn't show again. |
3. Camera and Photos
- Camera. RallyRead asks for camera access so you can film strokes. It records only while you are recording, and it records video only, with no sound. You can turn camera access off at any time in Settings > RallyRead and import videos instead.
- Photos. Importing uses Apple's photo picker. The app receives only the video you pick, not your photo library, and keeps its own copy for analysis. If you choose Save Video from the share sheet, iOS asks once for permission to add to your Photos. That permission only lets the app add videos; it cannot see or read your library.
4. How analysis works
RallyRead finds body positions with Apple's Vision framework and finds the racket with a model built into the app (Core ML). Both run on your device. The measurements and coaching tips are calculated on your device. No video, image or measurement is sent over the internet for analysis.
5. Sharing an export
On a results screen you can choose Export data. This creates a file containing the player's name, the session date, the measurements, and the body-position and racket-head points for that session. It does not contain the video. The file goes only where you send it with the iOS share sheet (for example AirDrop, Mail or Files). Once you share it, the app or person you send it to handles it under their own terms.
You can also choose Share or save video to save a session's video to Photos or send it with the share sheet. As with exports, it goes only where you send it.
6. Backups
If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or to a computer, Apple's backup may include the app's data, under Apple's privacy policy and your own backup settings. RallyRead does not use iCloud sync or any other cloud service of its own.
7. Information Apple may provide
Apple runs the App Store. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, such as how many times the app was installed. These do not identify you, and we use them only to fix problems. See Apple's privacy policy.
8. Deleting your data
- Deleting a session in the app deletes its video and results.
- Deleting a player deletes that player's profile, videos, results, progress records and drill log.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete or hand over on request. Copies you exported, or that are in your device backups, are under your control.
9. Children and young players
RallyRead is a coaching tool for players of all ages, including children, and is meant to be used by a parent, guardian, coach or older player. The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and it asks only for an age group, not a birthday.
Because the app is used to film people, please get permission before you film someone else, and a parent's or guardian's permission before you film a child who isn't your own. Videos stay on the device that filmed them.
10. Security
Your data stays inside the app's storage on your device and is protected by iOS, including the device passcode and data protection. Keeping your device secure keeps your RallyRead data secure.
11. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, to run and protect the service.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. If a future version ever collects data, we will say so here and in the App Store privacy details first.
